Background of the study

Digital political advertisements have become a cornerstone of modern electoral campaigns, offering unprecedented opportunities for targeted communication. In Kano, political campaigns are increasingly leveraging these advertisements to reach diverse voter segments and enhance campaign success. This study compares various digital political advertisement strategies to assess their effectiveness in driving electoral success. Digital advertisements, which include display ads, video content, and sponsored posts, enable campaigns to tailor messages to specific demographic groups (Ibrahim, 2023). The integration of data analytics and targeted advertising has allowed political parties to optimize their messaging in real time, thereby increasing voter engagement and turnout (Abubakar, 2024). However, the effectiveness of these advertisements can vary significantly based on factors such as message design, platform selection, and audience segmentation. This study investigates these variables by examining case studies from a political campaign in Kano, Nigeria. It evaluates the overall impact of digital political advertisements on campaign outcomes and explores how strategic adjustments can lead to improved voter mobilization. The research utilizes both quantitative data, such as click-through and conversion rates, and qualitative feedback from voters to provide a holistic view of advertisement efficacy (Umar, 2025).

Statement of the problem

Despite the widespread use of digital political advertisements, there is considerable uncertainty regarding their impact on campaign success in Kano. Political campaigns often face challenges such as inconsistent messaging, poor audience targeting, and ad fatigue, which can diminish the overall effectiveness of digital advertisements (Ibrahim, 2023). Furthermore, the rapid evolution of digital media platforms and the constant influx of new advertising technologies make it difficult to establish best practices. These challenges create a gap in understanding how digital political advertisements influence voter behavior and contribute to overall campaign success. This study aims to fill this gap by comparing different digital advertising strategies and assessing their impact on campaign performance, thereby providing actionable insights for political campaign managers (Abubakar, 2024).
